The illustrations needed to be detailed and accurate for use by medical professionals, simple and accessible enough to be used with laypeople just learning about these complex systems, and in line with the company's branding.

"A Multidisciplinary Approach to Immigrant Adult Second Language Acquisition Through Bilingual Picture Books"

THE THESIS   The academic thesis to culminate my visual communication thesis, marrying theory of adult second language acquisition and design to develop proposals on how to convert bilingual children's picture books into active and useful tools for language learning amongst immigrant adult populations. The written dissertation is accompanied by functional suggestions and typographic experiments using the 2015 book "Delicious Hullabaloo/Pachanga Deliciosa" written by Pat Mora and published by Arte Público Press.

THE BRIEF   Hired by the US Bureau of Land Management in conjunction with the National Historic Trails Center in Casper, Wyoming, to turn a teaching resource guide developed by a teacher into a complete, illustrated, printable guide.
After completion of the first project, developed and illustrated a variety of educational games, some developed by teachers and some developed alongside colleagues at the National Historic Trails Center.

THE BRIEF   In an effort to take the team's in depth knowledge of using the Adobe Creative Suite and harness it into a tool to connect the DTP industry and share that knowledge—already well documented in written SOPs for use internally—develop a brief instructional video on workflow organization and optimization within InDesign.
